IN FULL…Solo Collective presents the world premiere of True Believers, three unique tales of finding, losing, and having faith. A Jewish man struggles to find his own place within faith. A family secret leaves a middle-aged woman on the brink of losing it. An aging soap star reaches out to her fans in her final and greatest performance.
Well-known Vancouver film, theatre, and television veterans return to the stage with three monologues produced by Solo Collective. Camyar Chai (Tideline, Mother Courage And Her Children) directs Todd Thomson (School for Scandal, Macbeth) in Gemini Award-winner Dennis Foon’s My Acid Trip. With the historical icons of his family around him, one Jewish man finds his place within his family and his faith through the unlikeliest of sources in this compelling father and son story about the myths that we keep alive and the truths we must face when alone. In Governor General Award-nominee Lorena Gale’s The Voice, John Cooper (All My Sons, Up Island) directs Mercedes Baines (da big womb, Lagoon of Lost Tales). A voice reaches out to a middle-aged woman in the night to awaken her to the truth of her life and brings her to a place where faith and fate meet. Rachel Ditor (Doubt, Rabbit Hole) directs Jennifer Clement (School For Scandal, Equus)in Leo Award-winner Ian Weir’s Hope and Caritas. After her character is killed off, an aging soap star struggles with the change in daytime television and her faith in it during one final performance for her fans.
True Believers features set and lighting design by Yvan Morissette; sound design by Alexander Brendan Ferguson; and stage manager, Noa Anatot.
